Canal-side beer and pizza at Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick

Crate Brewery quickly became my favourite out of the new crop of breweries popping up in the East End thanks to the canal setting and lovely upcycled furniture. It feels industrial and really cosy at the same time with a bar made from old railway sleepers, sofas crafted from reclaimed hop sacks and really pretty lighting. In the summer, people tend to spill out onto the benches overlooking the canal as the brewery gets really good evening sun.

Needless to say the beer is excellent but if it’s not for you, they have a good selection of cider and wine on offer. Delicious pizzas are freshly cooked in a big stone oven behind the bar, leaving you wanting absolutely nothing more. It’s the perfect resting spot after a stroll along Regent’s Canal on a sunny summer evening.
